Last week I heard an interview with artist Austin Kleon on a local NPR station. He spoke about creativity and stealing and how his art has morphed by mastering different techniques he has “stolen” from other artists.
According to Austin, “When I was asked to talk to students at a community college in upstate New York, I sat down and wrote a talk based on a list of 10 things I wished I’d heard when I was starting out.”
Here are three of the ten. Be sure to visit here for the complete list.
1. Steal like an artist
2. Side projects and hobbies are important.
3. Write the book you want to read.
You can listen to the podcast Creativity and Stealing to learn more.
Do you “steal” like an artist? What would your list include if you were speaking to a class of college students?
