Inspiration

How many of you like Picasso?

“Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.”
~Pablo Picasso

Over the past two weeks I have been working on journals and altered books, along with taking a class about maps and the art of maps. I found this quote very fitting. I like the imagery of painting as a form of diary.

Really any medium is a diary, very personable, yet calling others to partake. I feel only the artist truly understands the layers because the art created is a “diary.” We choose the work we want to share and we hope to inspire others. The sharing and inspiration are what I find beautiful about art. There are so many avenues for expression and there are no fixed “rights or wrongs.”

How do you express yourself? Do you have a favorite medium that is your diary?

Snow Globes DIY Part Deux

The first part of December I wrote about snow globes and some DIY projects I found on other blogs that used the snow globes from Anthropologie as inspiration. You can find the original post here. Well, I have created my own version of these easy to make snow globes.

To do this project you will need:

1. Mason Jars which can be found most anywhere (second hand, Walmart, grocery stores, etc.)

2. Small Trees (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, second hand, Walmart, Kmart, etc.)

3. Fake Snow or Glitter (again most craft stores have this. I saw it at Walmart and Kmart too)

4. Small Pine Cones

4. Hot Glue Gun

5. Bows are optional

Hot glue the lid to the screw on ring then glue the tree to the inside of the lid. Next,  glue a few pine cones. Place fake snow on top of that and add a few more pine cones if you want more. Screw the lid into place and you are done. The bows are optional.

Snow Globes DIY and Anthropologie

These snow globes are so cute! I have a ton of jars and think this will be one of the ways I use them. I would like to give some as gifts and then keep a couple for our Christmas decor.

Anthropologie Snow Globes from their website

The snow globes above are available at Anthropologie ranging from $18.00 to 38.00 for one, not the set. Below, is a DIY from a couple of fellow bloggers and the cost for creating your own is at a much lower price. They look fun to make and there are so many options for adding your own ideas.
